I try to escape, I try to get away… I try to avoid all that can remind me of you. Yet, something always manages to break through this ice cold wall I have barricaded my emotions within despite my continuing efforts. I want to talk to you, I want to know how you are, I want to exchange polite conversation without a sudden urge to aggressively attack one another… but you’re not the same any more. Once so alike, we are now different - two separate people who used to be one. One soul, one entity, one love. But that’s gone now, and none of the past few years make any sense. It’s all just a blur. A mixture of colours spread across a blank canvas; with swirls of vivid, bright hues as well as lingering areas of dark paint splatters and burnt, charcoal-lined holes - the scars left behind from trauma and despair. But it’s all over now, there’s nothing left. The pain will eventually become a droning hum in the background of life.
It’s time to move on, and there’s no going back now.
